torrent been good to us my friend ;)
Yes, I was looking into indexes like that, it’s just funny to me that in many western countries in billions of dollars disappear in one “dirty lil deal”, the witnesses get silenced, the evidence disappears, the investigations stop, while many of those “red ones” probably total that amount in a year ;)

1·16 days agoTrue, however they were listed as a news source. The article amount & topics don’t seem like AD’s to me. This also doesn’t fit into an AD: “Negativity limited mostly to workplace competitiveness, subtle political debates, or spam.”

2·17 days agosources I think transportation is a good use of oil, ores & diamonds have plenty of good use cases (e.g. chips used in medical devices, climate satellites etc.)
Modern Industry & the system behind it are the definitely the problem. If we got rid of planned obsolescence alone, the issues would reduce dramatically.

Europe@lemmy.ml•Parents take TikTok to court over claims it hooks teenagers
22·18 days agoWhile it is being abused as an excuse to create an authoritarian, dystopian internet, the lawsuit itself is correct, it’s an evil corp, no doubt.

General Discussion@lemmy.world•Are natural resources really a blessing?
2·19 days agoI would argue the opposite, on a drilling rig, you have 0 cover or military infrastructure, so any missile or drone can come hit it or tankers or pipes. Permanently parking a capable ship there might make it economically unfeasible and additionally expose that ship to risks: https://www.warcosts.org/how-much-does-an-aircraft-carrier-cost

A Boring Dystopia@lemmy.world•Are natural resources really a blessing?
1·19 days agoWell some have way more “valueable” ones than others. I don’t believe it’s a size related thing (considering Africa, South America, Eastern Europe…). Here is a link somebody sent me, seems to be an actual theory: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Resource_curse
