Not a good idea. Such a broth can be used as a pesticide but it’s also dangerous to humans and animals. Nicotine also absorbs through the skin so, anyone trying this (which I can’t recommend but for it’s dangers and general lack of need for pesticides in home gardens) should be extremely careful and use all PPE (durable waterproof gloves, goggles, long sleeves, trousers, and waterproof footwear, as well as respirator if there’s any chance of aerosolizing) when applying. Seriously. While it has been used historically by home gardeners, the toxicity is no joke.
And, always remember: Proper PPE is sexy.

nickwitha_k (he/him)@lemmy.sdf.orgto News@lemmy.world•Zohran Mamdani says 'I don't think we should have billionaires'83·2 天前And yet the comments and downvotes shows how contentious it is which I knew it would be when I wrote it.
Probably extra contentious because it’s trans discrimination on Pride weekend. And there’s the fact that some research (backed by the International Olympic Committee) suggests that trans-women may perform worse than cis-women.
Even if more research comes out that shows otherwise (entirely possible considering that it’s hard to get a decent sample population of elite trans athletes as there are so few), discrimination is not a solution. The simplest solution would be to get rid of gendered leagues and group athletes by measureable athletic abilities. Probably would make most people with an actual vested interest happy, with exception of those who want to keep paying women less.

A massive portion entry and mid level positions in the scientific field that I did my undergrad in were offshored in my graduation year. This led to competing with PhD and MSc candidates, sometimes with 10+ years of experience, for basic lab tech positions… in a recession. Glad to have developed other skills.

If it’s just Li-Ion cells like 18650s, it should be fairly easy to DIY. If it’s a proprietary Li-Poly, probably going to be more problematic.

I don’t disagree that what’s going on in our meat computers (simplification) isn’t terribly special, in the grand scheme of things. And, there’s little reason that similar processes and results can’t be realized in other media. But, LLMs, by themselves, will never be capable of it because of their innate characteristics. Brains have numerous specialized structures that are networked together, so, probably the best bet would be building systems that can fullfill similar functions, and connect them.

For a while now, they’ve only needed to send an email stating that they were filibustering. This would also probably force some senators who have no business making laws that they won’t be alive to see the consequences of to retire. For example, there’s no way that McConnell has been physically capable of a filibuster for the last decade at least - he should be enjoying retirement (as much as one can wish him well), not enjoying causing harm to current and future generations.

The Pope was literally the ultimate, central authority in European feudalism. At the time, it also encompassed most of the known world, making this a non-difference.
Today data replaces the land ownership, rent for data or access to service instead of land.
That really doesn’t seem like a difference at all. Land was (and still is) used for its resources and power over others. Same thing with digital data. However, to say that data is replacing land, I think, would be extremely incorrect. Datacenters require land and there’s been a significant effort to centralize land ownership, forcing people to pay rent to live anywhere.
