There was too little rain this year which made the fires much worse.
I fail to understand why they stick with fossil fuels even though renewable deployments are cheaper than ever. Although there’s misinformation and politics, they should look at long term profits…
voidxAto Autonomous Vehicles•Tesla finally wide releases v13 'self-driving', Elon says your mind will be blown againEnglish4·4 months agoHW3 owners can now expect “a much updated v12.6.”
It’s crazy how they left HW3 and below cars abandoned. Tesla’s promises are worthless.
voidxOPAto Autonomous Vehicles•Tesla's social media posts falsely implied that its cars are robotaxis, NHTSA warnsEnglish8·6 months agoDamn it looks even more likely as per this article:
At the moment, there is a major obstacle to Musk’s self-driving ambitions: Federal regulators at the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have been hesitant to lay out a path for approving the next generation of robotic vehicles.
But with Musk now firmly in Trump’s inner circle, the billionaire is in a stronger position to influence development of federal rules that would put more of the cars on the road — an approach he proposed in a recent call with financial analysts.

HW3 FSD v12.5.4.1
Lol, atleast it was the safest option. Somebody mentioned that Waymo’s remote assistance was able to guide around it later.
The most ideal handling would be to take the adjacent lane like a human would I guess.
voidxOPAto Autonomous Vehicles•US probes Tesla's Full Self-Driving software in 2.4 million cars after fatal crashEnglish4·6 months agoThe U.S. auto safety regulator said it was opening the preliminary evaluation after four reports of crashes where FSD was engaged during reduced roadway visibility like sun glare, fog, or airborne dust. In one crash “the Tesla vehicle fatally struck a pedestrian. One additional crash in these conditions involved a reported injury,” NHTSA said.
voidxOPMAto Futurology•Climate Change Is Drying Up All the World’s Rivers at an Alarming RateEnglish15·7 months ago“It has also become more erratic and unpredictable,” she told the newspaper, “and we are facing growing problems of either too much or too little water.”
Climate change disturbs the rainfall distribution patterns, leading to extreme rain in some areas and less in others. It’s a very complex system and there are a lot of variables evolved. One example is changing wind patterns that creates high pressure regions that we see during heatwaves.
voidxOPMAto Futurology•Ending jet lag: Scientists discover secret to regulating our body clockEnglish15·7 months agoThe study also addressed the wider implications of these findings. CK1δ plays a role in several important processes beyond circadian rhythms, including cell division, cancer development, and certain neurodegenerative diseases. By better understanding how CK1δ’s activity is regulated, scientists could open new avenues for treating not just circadian rhythm disorders but also a range of conditions.
voidxAto Autonomous Vehicles•Hyundai's new US-made IONIQ 5 is getting the Waymo robotaxi treatmentEnglish3·7 months agoI suppose Waymo’s fleet is already mostly electric by now. I remember them using Cryslers before, but then switched to I-Pace.
voidxOPAto Autonomous Vehicles•GM is working on an eyes-off, hands-off driving systemEnglish2·7 months agoThese hands-off, eyes-off systems — also known in the industry as Level 3 or L3 — are not self-driving cars like the ones Waymo operates (which are considered Level 4). Instead, they typically operate only on highways and at reduced speeds. And unlike a robotaxi, the driver is still required to take control if needed.
voidxOPAto Autonomous Vehicles•Tesla Full Self Driving requires human intervention every 13 milesEnglish4·7 months agoYeah, they should’ve just marketed it as the old “Tesla Autopilot” till it’s ready. I’m interested to see how they’d launch a robotaxi service with their current tech.
voidxOPAto Autonomous Vehicles•Tesla Full Self Driving requires human intervention every 13 milesEnglish9·7 months agoNothing is perfect, but then don’t market the tech as full self-driving. Especially if the failure can kill you if not intervened.
voidxMAto Futurology•The North Atlantic Transmission One Link (Nato-L) wants to connect the European & American electricity grids via a 3,500 km cable to share excess renewable energy.English8·7 months agoThere’s a similar project that would supply power from Australia-Asia that spans 4,600 km when completed. But such big projects could easily be caught up in various delays, and it’s a problem if a country is too dependent on a single power link. Self-reliant renewable energy production definitely seems more secure.
Too scary for human passengers. Now it’s just robots riding robotaxis
