Yeah “promposals” started with the millennial generation, didn’t they? We didn’t have these back in my day either. Anyway the only person who ever “asked” me to prom was my brother’s friend …two years AFTER he’d graduated from our high school…then not another word was ever spoken about it. Never saw him again until 7 years later after I’d gotten out of the military and he was married to some Chinese lady. I bet he thinks I forgot that he ever fake-asked me to prom. Nope, I remembered then & still remember 33 years later.
I’m a first year Millenial and it’s definitely a trend that started at the tail end of the 90s. Most still asked like normal but it wasn’t the norm when I graduated in 2000. I’m pretty sure the over the top gender reveals are our doing, apparently we can’t control our need for spectacle.
I could probably point to several things I’m glad I didn’t have to deal with in HS, but promposals has gotta be somewhere near the top of the list.
That’s sad.
No, I’m just old.

It wasn’t a thing when I graduated in 2010
