I know it’s not much, but can you maybe walk around the office and act like you’re going to meetings or something? At least you can get some steps in. You can also listen to music, podcasts, or audiobooks on headphones while walking around.
I’m a truck driver for the dairy industry and pick up milk from dairy farms. Sound is incredibly important as I need to listen to the pump on my truck for anything wrong or I could burn it out and send shit into my trailer. I also need to listen for when the tanks is empty as it can make a soft noise to tell me it’s time to pull the hose.
I can’t listen to music. I can’t listen to things with headphones. I need to be alert and at the ready in case anything goes wrong. So most of my time waiting is just spent scrolling Lemmy because I can just kill my phone and put in my pocket in an instant if something goes awry or when the milk tank is empty.
I cycle to work so it’s not like I need to get a few extra steps in. Problem with headphones is that my job is to answer phone calls and that would delay putting on the work headphones quite a bit.
