There was a certain exhilaration in 2022 when Russia defied NATO directly for the first time since the Cold War and a multipolar world became a popular talking point. The entire world outside of “the garden” was talking about it, joining in seeming solidarity and the imperialists were retreating on every front.

Nowadays that’s gone for me as it turned out that basically only Russia, Palestine and Yemen were serious about it. China chickened out and continued their business with US and Israel. Brazil blocked Venezuela from BRICS and tried to join in on the regime change operations against Maduro. Assad’s regime crumbled and the axis of resistance broke. Iran chickened out and holed up in their mountains.

There was an opportunity but people balked. They didn’t take the shot. Now we’re back in the shit of slow imperial decline when it could have been ripped off in one swoop. Israel could have been destroyed, the Middle East united and NATO broken apart. Now we won’t get that because all of our allies sat on their hands

Now we’re back in the shit of slow imperial decline when it could have been ripped off in one swoop.

Even if the global south launched then won WW3 with an overwhelming victory, it would not eliminate imperialism, since that is the necessary result of monopoly capitalism and uneven development in the world. The “slow” method is the only way to eliminate the material basis of imperialism.

Now we won’t get that because all of our allies sat on their hands

This is quite an odd way of thinking about things, since there is a lot more to geopolitics than enthusiastically triggering WW3 at the first opportunity.

Where did I say imperialism would be permanently defeated? It would merely be a resounding victory for the working classes of the world and a move towards a multipolar world in which socialism could flourish without being stomped out at birth by the Americans

I interpreted “ripped off in one swoop” as a permanent defeat, but if that’s not what you meant, then I would still comment that none of the “great powers” are in any rush to start WW3 at this moment, since none of them are really ready for it except Russia (who is bogged down on one front, so couldn’t do much elsewhere).

WW3 is the only way forward for humanity and it will happen one way or the other. I know China and Iran are in no rush to start it, which is why they failed at this critical moment when they had an opportunity to have an advantage

If that’s the way it’s gotta be, I’m not I’m really any position to complain.

I embrace the falling purchasing power, especially if it makes my fellow workers easier to radicalize. I’m already used to living off less than the average global GDP per capita.

I don’t embrace the threats and violence against queer people or racial minorities though. Shit’s gonna get way weirder this time around.
