The rest of the world should boycott my country. Let us suffer. We deserve it. Sorry guys…I voted against this shit.
My manager and a team mate had to go to the US for work earlier this week. They’re both British citizens but Indian heritage so was genuinely worried for them. Work made sure their papers were in order and they had local contacts just in case. It was “no more difficult than usual” (it’s always been hard for brown people coming in with “random” security checks). There is no way I would be going though, would flat out refuse.
One made it home but funnily enough the other is stuck in Vancouver on the connection as theres some fire in Heathrow. At least he’s out of the USA!
Upper management wanted us to go to a conference in the US later this year, but they recently changed their mind. I’m relieved.
You should comply with all entry, visa and other conditions of entry. The authorities in the U.S. set and enforce entry rules strictly. You may be liable to arrest or detention if you break the rules
This seems… very insufficent as a warning. Or have they formalized conditions at “not be critical of cry-baby in cheif” and similar things which has landed people in detention?
There’s already been two news stories of people with valid visas detained for not liking trump? Someone was suggesting to go via Dublin if travel to US is really essential.
Exactly, and the guidance should reflect that fact is what I meant. Just saying “just have your papers in order” in clearly insufficient.

American here:
Don’t travel here. Don’t buy our products. Don’t sell us your products. Isolate us. Feelings about the American economy are the number 1 predictor of elections. We need the American economy to be in ruins to defeat these fascist fucks. The only other option is violence, and another American Civil War would be catastrophic for the world. We’re swimming in nukes.
Yeah, we shouldn’t have got ourselves (and by extension, eyeryone else) into this position. But we have, and we’re asking for your help because our opposition party was too fucking incompetent to keep the least-popular President in American history from being elected back into office, and we need them to sweep future elections just to slow the bleeding in 2 years.
My department runs 12 overseas study abroad programs annually- last week we put our US program on indefinite hiatus.
I wouldn’t go to the US now if you paid me. Crazy fucking locals armed with massive amounts of guns, Americans who cheer for the reduction of rights for particular sets of people and the complete destruction of the government. The president threatening allied countries. Fuck the US.
America is a fucking shithole. We should put a wall around it to keep the world safe.
Depends on where you go. America is REALLY big—like, continent-sized big. States still have a lot of autonomy, so the experience can vary quite a bit depending on the region, city, or even neighborhood. It’s not as different as going between EU countries, but there’s still a meaningful shift in culture, policy, and general vibe from place to place.
That said, I totally get the fear and frustration. The U.S. is going through a really turbulent time right now. There’s rising political extremism, deeply entrenched polarization, and yeah—an increasingly authoritarian tone at the highest levels of leadership. For people outside the U.S., it’s not unreasonable to see that and feel like it’s unsafe or unwelcoming to visit. Depending on where you go and what your background is, it can be dangerous.
But the full picture is more complicated. There are millions of people here actively fighting for justice, creating inclusive communities, and resisting that slide into authoritarianism. There are cities that are vibrant, diverse, and far more aligned with global democratic values than the loudest voices might suggest.
So yeah—it’s a mess, but not a monolith. And while it’s okay to be critical, it’s also worth remembering that there are still people here trying to make things better.
Germany has updated it’s travel advice to the USA as well. (ed)
Don’t forget the plane is more likely to crash there
… THAT’S how he was getting Mexico to pay for it!

The Dutch have yet to update the travel advice: https://www.nederlandwereldwijd.nl/reisadvies/verenigde-staten-van-amerika
But I wouldn’t go to the United States, even if they were to give me millions.
I’m too critical of Trump on my socials, I’ll be Room 101’ed immediately.
I hope we give a real advisory and just straight up mark the country yellow, possibly orange for anybody not hetro or white instead of just telling people to “check visa requirements” so papa US doesn’t get angry…
Mexico’s been yellow with orange area’s for years while crime rates in some area’s are totally comprable.
They are losing it and we’d to well to remember there are more weapons there per capita there than we have bicycles.
(The scale is green, yellow, orange, red, for those that don’t know what i’m on about. Green obviously meaning (relatively) safe, and red essentially being a warzone.)
i’m IN america and i can tell you: whatever it is in this country you think you want to come here and see—it’s not worth it
Hot take - New York City, Northern California / the Pacific Northwest, and Hawaii are the best tracks on America’s album.
Nah, it’s the US National Parks.
But honestly, none of those are worth your safety as an international traveler. Just wait until it’s safer. Though that might be a couple decades, at this point.
The national parks are amazing. But who knows if they’ll still be around since we’re firing everyone who maintains them. Not sure if the plan is to destroy them or to give them to some oligarch as a little play-area.
The plan is to make money from every square inch of the parks. Not /s.
Nice one, thinking the US will last 2 decades more. The empire will fall
Be patient. Those might all be part of Canada soonish. :)
Cries in Colorado :(
Colorado is the acoustic rendition of the Pacific Northwest. It slaps, but some of the instruments and distortion have been removed. Some people prefer it, but the electric version gets more air time.
Seattle will be cool again if the town goes bust and all the big money runs off. It’s always been a boom town, I hope it still is.
I’m in the PNW. Every week, at least someone gets shot in Seattle. Sometimes its a daily thing.
Every democracy in the world should be issuing travel warnings for the US.
Slowly, they all are.
I’m sure the tourism boards in Trump’s home state of Florida are going to love this.
Fuuuuuccckkkkk. This sounds pretty significant… maybe it’s not and they’ve done this before but it sounds significant
While the US is going batshit insane, fuck white people that ignore visa requirements.
Most countries have very clear visa regulations, especially for short term visas. If you travel to the US and Canada as a European white person and you get refused entry because your paperwork is not OK, that is entirely on you. I deal with those entitled people on the regular. It’s satisfying to see them not being able to use their white card. L2read and prepare.
If you’re not white and European, that’s a different story unfortunately…
(and just to be clear, I absolutely do not agree with what Drumpf is doing, the guy and his cronies and enables are criminals…)
Not sure where this is coming from but people are not only refused entry. People are detained. Even with valid documentation, evidently.
Germany also revised their travel advisories to reflect the fact you can basically arbitrarily be detained.
They don’t issue these kinds of advisories for countries with normal visa procedures where nothing of note happens…
Your rant seems somewhat out of place.
The father complained that his daughter got refused entry into Canada and was then detained in the US. If she would have had the correct paperwork for Canada, nothing would’ve happened.
But I agree, my rant is a bit out of place in here. Not the right place to relieve stress about dealing with entitled white people :)
You’re a racist fuckwit.
