Oh no they already died in 2006? That’s so sad
Makes sense, because I’m gen Z and I’m posting from hell. (Although we just call it ‘Ohio’ down here.)
I hated the 2000s
so much homophobia
And racism too.
(CW: discussion of racist caricatures)
the Ima firin’ mah lazer meme was supposed to be Cell in blackface at first, and let’s not get started on all the “Muslim bad. ‘Murica f*** yeah!” nonsense
Hey now - don’t forget ableism!!
This message brought to you by Ableism - ‘You thought things were bad now? It’s actually the best it’s ever been!’ Ableism! Shut up and work!™️ -*disclaimer - sentence may be applied to most other types of bigotry (in the US)- but the message is the same, ‘get back to work you, ******* ********** *******’
Let’s get it started in here
Let’s get r-slur in hereSo much mixed emotions around not being diagnosed with any mental health conditions in the 90s - sure I didn’t get treatment and developed coping mechanisms that have taken a decade to undo, but at least I only got bullied for being fat (until I learned the value of punching your way out certain situations)
exactly, people are famously not racist today
I miss the 2010s a bit too tbh. Feel like the internet and real life weren’t fully interconnected until post-2020.
Then again you don’t really miss those times, you just miss being an ignorant kid. Though I do miss stuff actually being able to afford stuff.

I disagree. It goes at least as far back as 2015.
Yeah I agree with this timeline. 2015 was the year the deep reaches of the internet became reality.
2011 is when the rot started though, when 9gag and its ilk broke through to the Facebook dads

I thought it was GenX because they used to drink from the water hose?
I’m gen Z and I did that lol
I’m an elder millennial and I have fond memories of drinking from my cousin’s water hose in the summer when we went outside to play with toy swords.
Im a younger GenX, and i remember drinking from the hose regularly. I am a stereotypical genXer in some regards; i drank from the hose, i was a latchkey kid of sorts, i played outside til the streetlight came on. Mostly unregulated, left to my own devices. We also lived out in the middle of the boonies so it likely had something to do with me growing up mostly unsupervised. I got my first shotgun back when it was taller than i was.
I grew up building forts out in the woods, and sleeping in them overnights. Id take a rifle or my .410 with me and disappear for a day or two during summers. I got to chase frogs, and dig holes, drink stump water, that sort of shit. Maybe my life was more of the typical poor trailer trash in the middle of nowhere than typical GenX, on second thought.
Were we not supposed to do that?
It was good for you it built character or smth
