    Nice essay. China still builds all our shit, Bloomberg. What matters more in the real world: the idea to build shit, or being able to actually build that shit?

    The former means a whole lot on a spreadsheet, and not a lot anywhere else.

      It’s like when shitlibs are thinking they made a great zinger when they point out that Russia has lower GDP than Italy. Great… how many tanks can Italy churn out in a year? How many artillery shells?

      Italy couldn’t even produce enough pasta without importing the wheat.

      And it’s not like the yanks has the monopoly on ideas anyways, with Chinese universities producing a rapidly higher educated population. And being close to the production of shit influences the kind of ideas you get. Chinese ideas are things like “How can we produce better and cheaper shit?” whereas yank ideas are like “how can we pour AI bullshit (latest fad), financialisation and advertising over shit to make stock prices go up?”
