A ridiculous question. “Tankie” isn’t a term anyone self-identifies with, it’s mostly a term used by liberals to hurl at anyone to the left of them or anyone who agrees with western foreign policy. The survey results will be as meaningless as the term “tankie” itself.

I’ve been called a tankie enough that some definition of the term probably applies, though it is not clear which because it seems to mean anything from as hyperspecific as “Stalinist” to as broad as “anyone who acknowledges that the US government’s hands are stained red with the blood of millions of innocent people”.

So if I’m a tankie, am I conspiring yo make sure people are having a bad time on lemmy.ml? No, of course not, not unless some imperialist ghoul crosses my path, but what would the imperialists be doing on the Marxist Leninist instance anyway except looking for a bad time? In which case it is they who conspire to give themselves a bad time, not I! Yet if I respond " no" will that be interpreted as “the cuttlefish with the hammer and sickle in her profile pic is not a tankie”?
If you ask many people who don’t have an account on the tankie
triadtroika, every user on hexbear, lemmygrad, and lemmy.ml is a tankie intent on spreading tankie propaganda to all of the poor non-tankie lemmyverse instances, ruining the lives of everyone else. As you’ve mentioned, the term is generally applied to anyone left of the Democratic Party in the USA, so things like believing in universal healthcare or other centrist ideas will get you labeled as a tankie.Given that the term has basically no real meaning, some centrists and people further left than them have embraced the label, while others choose to push back against it as ridiculous and meaningless. The poll is purposefully vague as a result.

If you put communist in your username, believe it or not, tankie.
Now the question is, what is to be done with this knowledge? Should I be a gaslighting girlboss and deny it when blue maga calls me a tankie, or just spam them with these emotes? 
Personally, I just say “yes, I’m a communist. I believe a better world is possible, I study Marxist-Leninist theory, and support AES.” That tends to get people either being generically anticommunist, or people calling you a “fake” or “bad” communist, at which point you can help steer them a bit into a better direction.
Nothing good comes from denying it.
I just tell them that I seek to revive Lenin’s conciousness and then have him reign in a thousand year Marxist empire
Yeah that really is the best answer. If someone accuses me of being awesome why would I deny it?

Last year lemmy.ml had 10 people respond yes 😭
The graphic has 2 hexbears saying no, but the results breakdown doesn’t include them. This must be tankie propaganda.
