    Well yes.

After all, of you’re going to commit an atrocity, it’s best to do so after claiming you won’t. You know, element of surprise and all that.

Israel loves ramping up buzzer beater violence, it’s practically their MO. It’s a deeply sick government and society.

Why would you sign a ceasefire / peace deal but also continue to attack right up until the last moment?

    It’s just business?

Because it’s what Israel has been doing over and over since it’s inception?

Obligatory “Nothing against Jews!” before the “ITS AN ANTISEMIIIIITE” crowd gets in, but I’ve seen the Israeli government and army pulling this shit for at least 5 decades now. Israeli government and IDF is not the same as all the Jews, please

I heard about this ceasefire a few hours ago in the morning and immediately wondered how long it would be before Israel would just say “fuck it” and continue their genocide, and apparently it was faster even than I expected.

And again to those in the “it’s an antisemiteeeee” camp, I wrong? Did the IDF not just not break the ceasefire? Because, of course they did.

Apart from the current genocide, seems to be a normal thing in war. I’ll never find it again, but read an essay on the end of WWII in the Pacific. A guy found his dad’s writings and wrote about it.

Everyone knew it was all over but the shouting, yet both sides continued to murder the fuck out of one another. The violence and cruelty actually ramped up! God I wish I could find it, but I think the idea was that combatants were taking out their rage in the final moments of the war.

Another reason to fight till the last moment is to hurt your enemy as badly as possible before they come to the negotiation table.

Because it’s lemmy, and I have to say it out fucking loud, I’m not excusing Israel’s actions. Hell, not even explaining them, unless the later statement applies.

This is what I was thinking about. Big wars might wind down like that but there’s almost overwhelming pressure to stand down. Israel isn’t about to collapse, they were never in a position where they were close to defeat, they’ve more or less been shaping negotiations from week 1, and this is a wound they’ve been picking at for decades.

Because Israel doesn’t want Hamas to accept the peace deal. They’re trying to goad Hamas into calling it off, so they can claim it’s Hamas’ fault the peace deal didn’t hold up

Also Israel does not give to shits and would love to continue their murder spree. The only reason to stop is because those pesky people around the world started watching and shouting so much that some governments dared to fake taking action.

Time for a brief stop, let some minor grass grow over it and repeat in an increased effort (aka just more murder on top of the destruction). Only gotta take like 10 more “Wars” against the Palestinians for their goal. Pinky promise.

I mean that dude is only putting off the inevitable. It is just a question of how long his crooked governments follows suit. Every day they continue their genocide is another nail in Israels coffin.

Maybe Netanjahu forgot about his countries history and the fact that it has the power to tear the whole project down.

For many of us, even an old and longtime supporter of Israel like me, it’s too late. Now I understand what I didn’t before, and I can’t unlearn that and forgive.

Why does no one understand this?! There is no ceasefire Netanyahu will agree to and abide by. Jesus, I know jack about geopolitics but it’s obvious even to my dumb ass. Same goes for Putin for different reasons.
