Incredibly gross pick given the timing with US incitement against Venezuela. Basically manufacturing consent for a war.
Is it? I feel like this will turn Trump off of invading Venezuela because now he hates the opposition leader
Watch him say something like “why did she get a peace prize when all she does is ask me to bomb her country?”
Edit: so far he’s only made some normal supportive statement
Trump is a wild card but there are a bunch of other people who really want that Oil.
Machado supports the privatization of state-run entities in Venezuela, including oil company PDVSA
advocated for foreign intervention to remove Maduro on humanitarian grounds.
The glow is too strong
Machado is undoubtedly an ally of Benjamin Netanyahu. In the past, the right-wing leader had even declared that if she gains power, she will restore diplomatic relations with Israel.
María Corina Machado had expressed her solidarity with Israel following the surprise October 7 attack by Hamas. Machado, who was then an opposition primary candidate, had criticised Hamas’s “terrorist attacks” on Israel. She had said terrorism must be defeated at all costs and “whatever form it takes.”
In 2020, the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize winner’s party, Vente Venezuela, signed a cooperation agreement with Likud to cooperate on “political, ideological and social issues … strategy, geopolitics and security.” For the unversed, Likud – National Liberal Movement is the right-wing Israeli political party whose chairperson is Benjamin Netanyahu. “The struggle of Venezuela is the struggle of Israel,” she had said on X in 2019.
There is a claim that in 2018 Machado sent a letter to Netanyahu asking for the use of “power” (possibly including military intervention) against the Venezuelan government.

Perhaps this letter, but I don’t have knowledge of the language
Even trump is congratulating her; they are manufacturing consent.
Translation:
From María Corina Machado, Venus, Caracas, December 4, 2018.
To Mr. Mauricio Macri, President of the Argentine Republic Casa Rosada. Balcarce 50, C1064) Buenos Aires, Argentina
And Mr. Benjamin Netanyahu, Prime Minister of the State of Israel, 3 Kaplan St. Hakirya, 91950 Jerusalem, Israel
The Venezuelan people need international protection against the widespread and systematic attacks to which they are subjected by the Venezuelan regime. This is demonstrated in the report dated May 29, 2018, presented by the Organization of American States to the International Criminal Court. This report has served as the basis for nine states, including Argentina, to denounce the regime before that international body. We are deeply grateful for this action, which is crucial to the outcome of the Venezuelan tragedy.
It should be noted that it is not only our population that is suffering from the widespread and systematic attacks of the current regime. Its criminal nature, closely linked to drug trafficking and terrorism, represents a real threat to other countries, including, and most notably, Israel. The current regime, which has hijacked the powers of government in Venezuela, displays its close collaboration with Iran and extremist groups, which, as we all know, pose an existential threat to Israel and have acted on Argentine territory. The tragedies of anti-Semitism experienced at the AMIA in 1994 (Terrorist Attack in Argentina) still resonate across the continent, and their echoes reach our country (literally no one fucking knows about or cares this except for Argentinians and zionist chuds).
I am convinced that the international community, in accordance with the doctrine of the responsibility to protect, is called upon to give Venezuelans the support they need to bring about the urgent regime change required to restore national and international security. For this reason, I have recently sent letters to several of the world’s leading leaders with the aim of promoting the adoption of effective protection measures for Venezuela by the United Nations Security Council through the promotion of regime change, a measure that necessarily implies a strengthening of international security. Today, I would like to ask Israel and Argentina to contribute their expertise and influence to move toward sound and urgent decision-making in the Security Council.
Such measures are imperative in the face of a source of hemispheric insecurity such as the regime currently oppressing Venezuela. The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization for Migration have certified that the current crisis of refugees fleeing Venezuela is the largest in the history of the Americas. Argentina is an example of this crisis, having taken in hundreds of thousands of our compatriots, a gesture for which Venezuelans will always be grateful. However, we must be aware that without a change of regime in our country, hemispheric and global security will be at risk.
On the other hand, it should be noted that the significant Jewish community that had settled in the country, a beacon of collaboration, alliances, contribution, and mutual admiration, has been reduced to a small number in recent times. Venezuela was one of the countries that supported Resolution 181 at the United Nations General Assembly on November 29, 1947, which led to the creation of the State of Israel on May 14, 1948. Therefore, it is our hope that the Jewish community will flourish again in Venezuela and contribute to our free development, as it did during the decades of democracy, tolerance, and peaceful coexistence. A Venezuela renewed in its prosperity and democratic tradition will cultivate a close relationship with Israel.
She’s literally ignoring the fact Maduro comes from a Sephardic Jewish family that was forced to convert to Catholicism.
Warm greetings from Venezuela, whose national territory I am unable to leave due to the provisions of the tyranny currently ruling my country.
Maria Corina Machado, EMBASSY OF THE ARGENTINE REPUBLIC: Date: 051 121 2018.
Nobel Peace Prize continues to mean nothing lmao
remember when they gave one to
and even he seemed a little confused about it
Nobel Peace Prize continues to mean nothing lmao
It actually seems to. It seems to consistently be awarded to especially awful people.
I don’t understand giving an award to people who haven’t achieved anything. Like even by right-wing ghoul standards, this is a participation trophy while Maduro’s government still stands.
The Peace Prize at this point is just an expression of contempt for the opposition to western hegemony
It’s to give some sort of legitimacy to her, like it or not the average joe thinks nobel prizes matter.
I don’t understand giving an award to people who haven’t achieved anything.
We call this the Obama.
at least Obama appeared like he’d be better than bush/Cheney.
What has this person done other than glaze trump and ask usa to bomb or invade her homeland?
Mamdani already congratulated her?
Is this snark or fact?
Adding on to the
ness of it all:
When she’s right she’s right. The Venezuelan liberals are headed the same place as the Zionists.
Nobel Peace Prize being given to some intelligence asset (or useful fool) that advocates for violent intervention in one country while they simultaneously are extending a hand to a western aligned country that is in the midst of an ethnic cleansing?
I’m shocked
Posted this in the mega immediately after losing my mind at this, then realized I should search for a NPP thread.
Haven’t been here in a bit but I needed to vent about seeing the reaction online to María Corina Machado getting the Nobel Peace Prize. So many people are posting “lmao won by a woman, and a Venezuelan woman too, Trump totally owned.”
Then doing 15 minutes of looking into this person to find out she supported Trump’s terrorist attack on 11 of her own countrymen, called for US military intervention in Venezuela, called for israeli military intervention in Venezuela, supports privatizing the oil industry, was involved in a 2002 coup attempt that tried to dissolve the entire government down to city level positions (mayors!), has literally been on DJT Jr’s podcast, has supported the current israeli genocide and states that when she takes control of the government she’s putting the Venezuelan embassy in israel into Jerusalem.
Then hours after winning she tweeted, in English, that she was dedicating her prize to Trump anyways!
Absolute freak shit. Constantly seesawing between whether I hate libs or conservatives more. Also, in-between all the “Tankie this Tankie that” that anyone trying to call attention to this gets, I’ve seen “campist” used as a pejorative for people criticizing this. Fuck anyone who calls people campist, they’re just American running dogs with extra steps.
I’ve had multiple reddit libs call me a Trump supporter today for telling them she’s a Trump supporter and a zionist and generally just sucks. Like how do these people’s minds even work lol
No class consciousness and no understanding of class conflict whatsoever. All politics are identity politics conflicts motivated by apparently nothing in particular.
I think the Nobel’s decision to reward her but “snub” Trump, as well as the Blue Dogs (like fucking Obama) congratulating her beforehand right before she dedicated her prize to Trump anyway, is yet another case of “social” liberals trying and failing to get back the reins of the ship to return to “sensible normalcy”, while still earning the majority favor of the cappies and maintaining the international regime of imperial violence. Between everything that went on from Biden’s presidency onward (arguably earlier), the cat isn’t going back into the bag. The impotency of the mainstream political “left” in Europe and America (save for running incredibly unpopular policies among their own bases) has run its course, and while the right wing dipshits taking over are far from popular, their opponents aren’t seizing the moment when it presents itself, and are hardly putting the effort to lie anymore (compare the first Obama term to the Dems now). If there were a well-funded progressive or social democratic movement not tied to the hip to neoliberalis, it could easily roll over the opposition but the bourgeoisie who facilitate that funding in the first place are by and large supporting one of two camps, not including them.
In a sense, Trump’s victory and his support for like-minded right-wing figures like Machado more or less rang the death knell of social liberalism as a project in the West which the Nobel commission would very much like to see revived. He represents the domineering section of the political and capitalist class which wants to see a transition from sissy things like soft-power status quo, humanism and faux-internationalism into a more aggressive and unabashed form of liberal imperialism and repression, as was standard in the 19th century before labor movements and “soft-hearts” (pragmatists) ruined everything.
Of course, the shitlibs will pout and would much like things going back to their way, but they would prefer to be in perpetual “opposition” in dominant-party right wing states rather than allow the actual Left to grow, at any costs.
campist is cold war shit. Post-1991, you’re either supporting the imperial hegemon or you are fighting against it
the NPP had always been a joke for euros to pat themselves on the back on how civilized they are. They froze out Ghandi five times just for humiliating the British in India even though he was basically your perfect liberal darling otherwise. More recently, Aung San Suu Kyi won one then went on to enact a genocide against the Rohingya people, what a hero for peace.
Giving it to trump over this loser comprador would have been better for world peace.
trump abandons the venezuelan opposition out of spite
nobel peace prize says: Hands onto Venezuela.
Straight up manufacturing consent for war, while US troops gather in the bay murdering random fishermen. They would have been better off even giving it to fucking trump.
They would have been better off even giving it to fucking trump.
They could have even claimed it was for the Gaza ceasefire or something
Nah it’s 4D chess, Trump won’t want to go to war to support this lady now, he’s gonna fucking hate her because he’s a jealous little worm
Consent for war would’ve been giving it to Maduro, Trump would’ve said “I’ll take it off his cold dead hands”
Hold it over Trump for next year. “If you keep your rabid dog Israel from biting anyone you get a treat”
They would have been better off even giving it to fucking trump.
Holy fuck, who carrs
Of course it doesn’t matter but it would make the prize seem more legitimate if it went to someone who actually wanted peace. If they actually had a spine, they would have given it to someone like Greta to use their platform to encourage people to talk about Palestine
It’s just so fucking weird to be so focused on Trump deserving this award
I don’t think he deserves it. I think they were saying even Trump who doesn’t deserve it would have a better justification than the actual recipient
The Nobel Peace Prize has been a joke ever since they gave it to
I’ll never understand these people; what do they think they’ll achieve if they help America against Venezuela? Does she look at the Iraq war and think wishfully “Ah, that’ll be us someday!”
I’ll never understand these people; what do they think they’ll achieve if they help America against Venezuela? Does she look at the Iraq war and think wishfully “Ah, that’ll be us someday!”
They don’t live in Venezuela, they all live in the US, their wish is to be picked to govern Venezuela as a Colony/Puppet State of the US
Does she look at the Iraq war and think wishfully “Ah, that’ll be us someday!”
latin american right is that cucked so yes
Latin-American Right loves to bootlick the US is unbeliveable.
is it reversed for me or am I not getting it
I see a giant US flag on the left and a Brazil one on the right
I just woke up and I mixed up the words, i fixed it now lol
Bruh LATM right wingers are so cucked
I AM A REAL PATRIOT (holds the American flag instead of their own country’s)
LATAM Right-Wingers are very sane people CW: Israel Flag and Cringe
Led by Congressman Hélio Lopes, Bolsonaro supporters are camping outside the Supreme Court. Afraid of making coup-mongering speeches, as they did last time, they are now dancing in a circle and crying for Bolsonaro not to be arrested.
Hélio Fernando Barbosa Lopes (Rio de Janeiro, March 28, 1969), also known as Hélio Negão (literally: big black Hélio) and Hélio Bolsonaro, is a Brazilian politician and former military officer.
He is also president of “PL Integration”, a group within the Liberal Party that seeks to “give a voice to right-wing blacks”. He became known during Jair Bolsonaro’s administration for being a constant presence at the president’s side on official trips abroad. As a member of parliament, he demonstrated his opposition to the black movement and to initiatives for historical reparations for slavery, arguing that affirmative action should be based on social, not racial, criteria. He also said that black people can’t be “hostages of the left”, Hélio became known on social media as “Bolsonaro’s black man”.
So pathetic. I have relatives in Latin America (won’t be more specific for op sec reasons), but I can’t even say anything because they’ll say “you don’t know, you grew up in the US, you don’t know how bad communism has been in South America” (and they’ll call evens liberals communists). It’s hard to fight back against that because there’s nothing I can say to prove right-wing candidates have done way more damage, I can’t reference history, news, anything.
I’ve also seen that same argument used by people in Eastern Europe actually to say you don’t know how bad communism was there, so all your statistics and facts and figures mean nothing, you weren’t from there. Therefore, everything to the left is bad, and no further words can be exchanged.
I am unable to comprehend wishing for your country to be invaded. What level of isolation from everyone you know do you need to want that? You need to be an absolute husk of a person to support that.
They don’t live in Venezuela, they all live in the US, their wish is to be picked to govern Venezuela as a Colony/Puppet State of the US
Imagine you were an Israeli, or some of the separatists in the donbass. You’d want your government to be destroyed by military force and welcome an invader.
Imagine you were an Israeli
(CW: self harm)
I don’t think even leftist, anti-zionists Israelis would want military invasion against themselves, knowing all the hurt it would bring. You’ve got to be especially insulated to be able to handle the Iraq treatment, something only right-wing, state department-aligned ghouls will be.
Eh, I can comprehend wishing for your country to be invaded
I live in the Great Satan, a guilty land whose crimes will only be washed away with blood. If China (or basically anyone actually) invaded and occupied us I would greet them as liberators
What I can’t comprehend is wanting your country invaded by the United States
You need to be an absolute husk of a person to support that. so a right winger
concessions to norwegian oil companies? the fuck you think
No she thinks she’ll have power in the aftermath and will be able to profit from selling off Venezuelan assets to the highest bidder. Privatizing the economy can be very profitable for the ghouls in power.
she loves trump, israel and margaret thatcher lol
She has 2/3 things in common with libs then. No wonder I’ve been seeing them glazing her so much.
Her interview with Donald Trump Jr. where she sycophantizes to Trump and libs out extremely hard. She is extremely eager to privatize the oil industry and make Venezuela the “brightest place in the world for investment by american companies”.
The more you sell your country to American Oligarchs, the more democratic it is.
