Just because a company says they are laying off workers due to AI, that doesn’t mean that the reason they’re being laid off is because their jobs are being replaced with AI.
And it’s no surprise that it’s the more expensive workers that are being laid off.
I’m confused by this because in my jobs, junior/mid engineers are most impacted because they typically lack the security and domain knowledge to leverage AI and properly review the outputs.
(not saying the above is true, I’m speaking as the companies I work for)
What a great day to be uneducated!
So the people who invested most of their life into doing the things AI can do good, things with information?
