The bill, which was passed by the state legislature on April 29 and is expected to be signed by Governor Greg Gianforte, essentially expands on existing Right to Try legislation in the state.
The same people who are denying abortions & medical care to trans people, are all for “freedom” and right to choose when it comes to other people’s medical choices?
So…would this not be very exploitable by trans people?

Recreational drugs anyone?
Well we also used to have no speed limit. Back in the Moderately Prudent days it was more common to get passed by a semi like you were standing still while going 100+ in a blizzard through a canyon. That was until nightfall, then the speed limit dropped to 55 on highways and 65 on the freeway. It was insane.
But it did result in a two speed system. Most of the highways are 75 during the day and 65 at night. Which to me just seems smarter.
Then again it has been over a decade since I was in Montana.
Experimental oral bleach treatments. It will be interesting to see whether this works out as hoped, or as feared.
Does this mean I could get estradiol undecylate in Montana? If so I’m at least tentatively supportive
I keep saying this but without a public healthcare system open to all then prescriptions should be done away with and all drugs should be available. If folks have to do their own healthcare they should be unfettered.
then prescriptions should be done away with and all drugs should be available.
It used to be the way the world was. The result was huge amounts of addiction (laudanum was 10% opium), and gullible people being peddled snake oil.
The snake-oil part is solved by prohibiting scientifically unproven claims. Laudanum was sold as a cure-all; obviously as a society we don’t want to allow opiates to be marketed for everything from allopecia to zika.
Mexico’s pharma industry works like this to some extent. You can walk into a .mx pharmacy and get yourself antibiotics, boner pills, a CPAP machine, hormonal birth control, and much much more without a doctor’s note. Purity doesn’t seem to be a big problem; you generally don’t have to worry that it might be 10% opium or whatever. International travelers can bring up to 3 months’ personal supply back to the U.S., which would be tricky if border officials’ drug-sniffing dogs routinely flagged contaminant drugs of concern in medication inspections.
Which is why we should have a public healthcare system which then it makes sense to have the limits but with a system of its all on you well maybe you get by with opium because the cure is to expensive. I mean how much addiction back then was folks dealing with constant pain from how shitty society was back then?
There are medications that if not used correctly harm everyone.
Antibiotics cause antibiotic resistant strains, and if you don’t take the full dose it gets worse. As such their used needs to be monitored closely.
Some drugs cause mental issues. you shouldn’t drive after taking alcohol - also don’t drive after taking many pain killers. Again we need to watch this closely since you can harm someone else.
If someone I don’t know harms themselves I could say none of my business (this is a debatable moral issue, but at least you can understand that side). However if you harm someone else that is a problem.
Which again is why we should have universal healthcare so its fair if society restricts these things.
If folks have to do their own healthcare they should be unfettered.
And closer to evolutionary mechanisms of having favorite pills taken every time you feel bad, and eventually winning the Darwin award.
Not sure.
A lot of countries have prescriptions required, but without such prices for everything as in the USA. Maybe that’s not the problem.
Yeah that is my main point ultimately. We should have universal healthcare because everyone take care of themselves does not work out great.
