Russian officials are having a field day with the sudden Musk-Trump feud.
Russian officials are gleefully offering Elon Musk asylum, a sarcastic gesture meant to sow further discord between the billionaire and President Trump as their alliance implodes.
“Elon @elonmusk, don’t be upset! You are respected in Russia. If you encounter insurmountable problems in the US, come to us and become one of us - a ‘Bars-Sarmat’ fighter. Here you will find reliable comrades and complete freedom of technical creativity,” wrote Dmitry Rogozin, who formerly rivaled Musk as the head of Russia’s space agency Roscosmos. “We will, of course, resolve issues of citizenship and military ID. Please fill out the forms at this link. With respect to you.” Rogozin is now a senator in occupied Ukraine.
Others noted that Musks’s conflict with Trump mirrors the conflicts that President Putin has had with Russian businessmen, particularly Yevgeny Prigozhin, the Wagner Group founder whose plane mysteriously exploded in mid-air in 2023 after he tried to usurp Putin. Musk has also been deeply anti-Ukraine sinceRussia’s invasion, another point that will further please the Kremlin.
The funniest possible way this could play out is if he actually accepts Medvedev’s offer, and then they just bait and switch him into being a frontline vatnik for the meat grinder

Elon’s dad is in Russia at some right-wing convention… so I think we may be in for a laugh.
As if any billionaire, let alone the wealthiest man on the planet, needs the help of any government to stay safe if they really wanted. They are basically nations unto themselves.
Only as long as the state enforces their wealth. If Trump really wanted to flex, the state could just seize his assets and nationalize his companies and jail him in trumped up charges. Wealth can’t protect you from the people who can nullify that wealth.
That’s not how this works. Billionaire’s dont just have one or two bank accounts.
Well, there is also jail. Hard to use your money if you’re locked up in a gulag. Or if you fall out of a window. Or if your helicopter crashes. Or if you simply disappear.
Asylum for being a persecuted South African white man? Or for being a billionaire that has made tons of that from the government like a good oligarch that is now has his source of wealth threatened?
