While I am definitely on the side of labor when it comes to the Hollywood strike, I wonder if their position is ultimately doomed. There are going to be some people happy to license their likeness for next to nothing.
While I am definitely on the side of labor when it comes to the Hollywood strike, I wonder if their position is ultimately doomed. There are going to be some people happy to license their likeness for next to nothing.
And failing that, entirely fictional people can be created whole cloth and used instead.
I’m really thinking that the people trying to put strict limits and controls on how likenesses are used are shooting themselves in the foot in the long run. If it’s too big a hassle to use the likenesses of real people then virtual actors will be substituted and real people will have nothing.
