How early did the boat traffic start? Was the place deserted enough to boink before bedtime?
There were only 10 tour boats in the park while we were there, according to the guide. I can only remember seeing one or two on the whole trip. We were two of us on the boat plus the crew which consisted of a guide, a captain, a helper, and a cook. They slept below. How quiet are you?

Yes, there were mosquito nets and no, they weren’t bad. I barely noticed any. We’re from Northern Canada so perhaps we are immune.

(I use the word “stalking” in jest. I am amused because usually when one has cause to “stalk” a user’s post history, it’s because there’s some drama or dirt that turns up. I always feel awkward and a bit vulnerable when I reflect on how people can peruse your post history at will, but I find the wholesomeness of this subverts the anxiety I usually feel at this prospect. Ugh… Right… Today I was at a place with my partner and a group of younger (not as in young, just younger than us) girls behind us. They were talking about some place they were familiar with and how cute it was, how they hadn’t been there in so long
“That’s like the most instagramable place ever!” I swear I could see the back of my skull, that’s how hard my eyes rolled

I don’t use any of that stuff. Still, I don’t have an issue with the language. It sounds like they just mean it’s cute. I use the word “Google” to refer to web searches, but I don’t use Google.
I think policing language is stupid. You can’t know what they meant from what they said. They could be saying they only like it to share on social media, or it could have meant it’s just really cute. I think judging the language of strangers beyond this is just a waste of energy and a good way to make yourself feel worse —I say this fully recognizing that I’m doing the same thing.

I have actually done that, just not on a boat and I had a sleeping bag and pad instead of a bed. Even a crappy real bed sounds nice.
I too have been to Borneo and saw the orang-utans. Mosquito nets are not guaranteed, but yeah, with one it looks like a pretty sweet spot. Certainly better than a lot of the places I stayed at in South-East Asia .

Cool place. I didn’t think you had been, I was more referring to the OP. I didn’t do a river cruise, though. I worked in Brunei for about 5 months, and went to Sabah to see the apes and climb Mt. Kinabalu before leaving. This was in 1994 and sadly I no longer have the photos.

If that’s where I had to sleep when I was a seaman, I’d have quit. It’s like 120F in there at all times. We used to call the long hallway that went from stern to fore the Highway to Hell because the closer you got to the engine room, the hotter it was.
