Makes senses: the California National Guard are now grizzled, battle-hardened warriors after bravely fighting in the trenches of the Great Los Angeles Insurrection, and therefore best suited to tackle the horrors of the Portland warzone.

They might even be asked to patrol farmers’ markets, where dangerous hippies might throw chia seeds at them! Oh the humanity!

according to the SPLC, California has more white supremacist groups than any other state….
i’d guess that the past couple of months have weeded out the ones opposed to treason…
that’s why the have to slowly roll out fascism…

We are the most populous state by a solid chunk so I’d kinda expect that. Also NorCal and the Hi-desert have a lot of backwoods militia types, also we have a lot of cults what I wouldn’t do to purge all those fuckwads cultist up in the San Bernardino mountains. Cults sully the precise murderous madness of San Bernardino with their love bombing dishonest bullshit, if you are gonna stab a man do it to their face.

Now that is a fair point to make, though I do suspect that has more to do with the size of the state relative to how much of it is if not nice then livable. Lots of nooks and crannies that are remote but not entirely away from civilization, and within civilization there are lots of insular little gatef fuckwad communities.

well i mean, “the inland empire” isn’t exactly great….
i heard it was because a lot of southerners came over around the great depression and then wwii, bringing racist groups with them… and then resentment over black people that moved over to fill factory jobs during wwii… but i dunno, im not historically educated

It goes further back than even that, almost the whole of SoCal was aligned with the South during the lead up to the civil war and the only reason the state didn’t split in two is cause the rest of the state was already prepared to stop it. Then after the civil war a bunch of folks returned but we’re politically and socially countered by generally egalitarian Scots-Irish and Germans from Appalachia and the Great lakes regions. This caused fighting though it didn’t last long because the Mormons started moving in at high numbers, which pissed basically every not Mormon off resulting in the fighting going cold more or less because Mormon bad.

You only really start seeing the racism becoming a problem again around when the first generation of Hells Angels pops up, which probably was from general migratory factors from the South. Regardless the Inland Empire is basically a coin flip on what you’ll get, could be the single most racist person alive or it could be someone so egalitarian in their thinking that John Browns ghost is telling them to chill it just a bit.

It’s a foolish strategy, as we know the great baristas of Portland are a far greater threat than any baristas ever encountered in Los Angeles. Their oat milk lattes oatier, their half caf flat whites flattier… the California National Guard may be no match.

The National Guardistas will have the jitters so bad that they’ll shoot the tear-gas canisters at themselves.

This sounds like one of those clear cut “illegal orders” the military oaths are supposed to protect us from.

Going there is not an illegal order. What they are told to do once they are there may be another matter.

No, a court temporarily barred national guard from being sent to Portland. Going there is currently an illegal order.

I haven’t seen a MAGAt or even a single Trump flag since last year, and I live in a historically red state. They’re in hiding.

I think they finally figured out what the rest of us have already known about Trump since the 80s. (They’re still going to vote Republican, though.)

I live in a small rural town that’s deeply red and I know a few people who go full Trump support with the flags and signs and bumper stickers, shirts, Facebook posts etc. since the Epstein cover up started this summer all of them have taken down their Trump shit and have been very quiet. There have been a few times where they will get excited like when Trump has recently deployed ice to apprehend immigrants. They get very excited and cheer, but within a day or so they stop talking about him. And the same goes for the current shut down at first they were all up in arms about how this is the Democrats fault with them, supposedly wanting to give illegal immigrants, healthcare, and allowing trans athletes to play sports, but other than that, it does seem like they have lost a lot of fire in their words as well as trust in their leader.

Same here. I’m deep red south and you basically never see trump flags or maga shit. You do see a lot of red banners and yard shit for local/state elections for repub reps though. So even if they’re quite about the pedophile now, they still support the party

I saw a young woman, no more than 20, in a red cap today.

In southeastern Massachusetts. Like near the RI line. Not out in the boonies where you’d find several flags on the street. Though I still pass a few flags. There’s a couple houses nearby that has them still up. Even one that has a yard sign that says “Trump or Communism”.

I wonder if people would refuse to buy a house if Google Maps shows fascist paraphernalia in the yard.

The three main places in my town that were bold enough to put Trump flags up have also taken them down.

But yeah, my town is still red :/
