Well that backfired on Ethan
Wonder if my radlib boss will notice or if she will just stick to theo von
It’s when I see people here say shit like “he’s a fed” and thinking he may be “making this up” that I’m reminded a lot of people here need to touch grass and do a bit of a reality check lmao.
Hasan is good. This is not surprising. He’s doing well to talk about it and make noise about it.
the people who need to touch grass are those who are on a first-name basis in their parasocial relationship with a streamer
They literally pulled me aside at TSA to inspect the blunt stakes in my tent bag that I was taking as carry on because it was way smaller than my big duffel bag. Funnily enough they only did this on my way BACK from going to Pine Ridge to meet with a bunch of former AIM elders.
Hasan is a slightly-left-of-AOC streamer doing the “we can push them left” thing, where the “them” is imperialist social democrats/left liberals. The place at which his followers arrive is, “I will only reluctantly vote for Kamala Harris” and, “I wish I could vote for AOC 2028”. He occasionally arrives aa socialist positions and language like a toddler finding a new toy. He learns the toy, plays with it for a while, talks about it on stream, and then discards it. He wants to be on the edge of mainstream. Can’t let the toy get in the way of that.
This is only good and useful in the same fashion that Bernie could be thought of as useful: some will be inspired by the toy, the appeal of possibility and pointing to (mostly) correct culprits of oppression, and then their disappointment at nothing changing may help radicalize. But many, probably the vast majority, will be led back to the Democratic party and liberalism, as Hasan neither offers them an onramp himself nor points anyone to next steps. He just returns to stream about electoral politics, Trump, the next elections, etc. And his audience follows him there.
Hasan should be considered situationally useful. We should be there to pick up the disaffected, as he is not pointing them to us. And doing it through our organizations. If we are not, then he is not part of any pipeline to developing more socialists, but just creating more Bernie-adjascent electoralists that sit at home and will be susceptible to most propaganda.
The only really dumb take I’ve seen is him saying that owning a credit card would make him bourgeois
Hasan is criticized for advocating for leading baby leftists back into the fold of the Democratic Party. And its not just “hexbear” who says this. We already had a similar situation where an obvious British agent was victimized due the genocidal policies of the empire.
Hopefully hasan can grow from that injustice, but that suddenly doesn’t make him lenin 2.0.
I don’t think he’s lenin at all. I think he does a good job agitating and educating, that’s it. That’s much more than most people can claim to do. I disagree that he leads leftists back into the democratic party, then again i’m not american, but that sounds nonsensical to me.
I like him okay. I just don’t really find his stream that interesting. Plenty fan of his message, enjoy that he watches One Piece, sometimes he hangs out with Valkyrae’s group. But I’m there to watch video games personally. I don’t feel any extra love for the Dems because I follow him
same, i sometimes put on his stream if there’s something interesting going on but mostly that type of content and the constant derailment by chat annoys me. His message is good and i’m glad he gets people on the right track.
The chat stuff pisses me off. A firehouse of liberalism and trolls to the face would probably drive me insane though so props
Yeah, too many on Hexbear got that “Too cool for school” ass energy that needs to be dispensed with asap
Offshoot of the Western leftist mantra of nothing ever being holy enough.
Hasan does good shit within the confines of the parameters he can exist within, and is a net positive for us, even if he doesn’t share our views one-to-one.
yeah someone who watches hasan and learns about the world and takes what he says seriously is a lot more likely to then be receptive to going further, learning more and coming to understand hasan’s limitations and bad/mid takes. But on the whole he’s a positive, even if he’s got a ton of fans who are oblivious or don’t fully take his points/logic to heart, let alone go further, they are at least not instinctively anticommunist and generally vibe with us.
He makes calls and has takes that i don’t agree with, often in the interest of “optics”, but just covering the shit that he does is a huge boost to the level of discourse happening in a lot of corners of the internet. Just getting people talking about ansarallah and their blockade in a positive light and with context is a huge boost against the “they’re just terrorists attacking civilian shipping vessels” people
They don’t like it that a guy can be both ‘on the right side of history’ and handsome, probably, lol.
That is silly. All hexbears are remarkably good-looking and I refuse to believe otherwise.
Incorrect, the reason I don’t like him is because of this rod-polishing parasocial relationship people have with him for scraping the literal bare minimum, which isn’t unique to him but part of a larger critique of the alienation that is inherent to streamer media.
I mean for Christ’s sake, this is the exact same argument as ‘You just criticize capitalism and want communism because you are jealous of other’s success’ level of breadtube argument slop.
You don’t like him because people e-fellate him? That can’t be on him. Sure, I understand if you want someone as popular and ‘on our side’ to be deeper, more intellectual, more politically engaged, but I won’t let perfect be the enemy of good. In a world of Ethans and Musk fanboys, Hasan is a breath of fresh air, and that is enough for me.
I never said it was ‘on him’. I’m not even mad that he is surface level. Don’t put words in my mouth, please.
I said that it was part of a larger critique. Streaming culture is bad for us, politically, as leftists. It is inherently bad because it creates a simulacra of community, without even a hint of theoretical will to power. It is the ultimate liberal simulation of politics without actually being politics. You feel ‘politically engaged’ without actually engaging with the polity. How can you? The community only exists if you are actively online supporting it, which means you are actively disengaged from the polity. You are engaging with a petite bourgeois capitalist influencer on a capitalist rentier platform. At least recognize it.
As such, even the best part of it, which Hasan absolutely is, is still bad. Therefore, I don’t like him, because I don’t have to like him.
Fantastic comment, saving it for the next time I need to articulate one of the reasons why I don’t watch streamer media
Ethan is so incompetent, he can’t even sic the US government on a middle eastern guy named Hasan with leftist tendencies lol
Hasan is blowing up—
Not beating the terrorism allegations, Mr. Piker!
now you say that but i saw
Hasan is blowing
and stopped there
Volcelisopsec.
Now hold on a moment there, officer! I never said what he was blowing, he could be blowing balloons for the May Day parade!
Man with middle eastern/turkish origins detained in America over his politics. And they are left leaning. I’m surprised it didn’t happen sooner tbh. If you wanna be a turkish man in the spotlight you need to sniff American war criminal butt like that enes freedom nerd.
okay but he was obviously only taken aside because he kept triggering the metal detector with all his goofy ass thumb rings and pukashells and other assorted accessory bullshit.
Feels like an Eric Andre bit. Going though TSA looking as Arab as you can and then having just a shitload if really white people stuff under a turban and robe. Setting of the metal detector cause of your roller blade wheels and tattoo equipment while looking super brown
He’s so handsome 🤩
You can say he’s “Glowing up” to

https://f-droid.org/packages/com.trianguloy.urlchecker/
if youre in android, the URLchecker app is really helpful for cleaning links, it acts as your default browser so links are opened in an editable form, and you jump into a regular browser from there. Ihighly recommend it
not sure about the security of it though 🤷♀️
Appreciate it
No problem. In the future copy and open the link in a browser (I use Firefox on Android), then copy that link and delete everything after the question mark. You doxxed your tiktok account to anyone who opened the original tracking link fyi
Do you happen to know if any privacy frontends work for tiktok like invidious does for youtube? I use LibRedirect for everything I can, but it only displays proxitok, which hasn’t worked for well over a year, and offtiktok, which doesn’t seem to have any public instances listed. So I’m guessing there just is no frontend landscape for tiktok like there is for youtube, reddit, etc.?
Sorry to ask you out of the blue, but it sounds like you might be well versed in this kind of thing.
The extension Lib Redirect you set this king of thing up for all kinds of websites, including tiktok
I know, I use it for all kinds of websites. For tiktok specifically, the frontends it redirects tiktok urls to are proxitok and offtiktok, and I mentioned the issues with those.
@CyborgMarx@hexbear.net you can disable that “feature” somewhere in the settings under Privacy > Suggest your account to others > People who open or send links to you, but the tracking links do a lot more than just reveal the account
Thanks for the info, I’ll definitely do that for my main account
Thanks for the heads up, it was a burner account anyway that’s been linked to a dozen times already, but it’s good I can now disable the tracker
Wait. Hold on. Do we know this actually happened? Were there other witnesses? He is, first and foremost, a celebrity and entertainer. He is a man in show business. And a left wing commentator being detained? That’s an obvious ratings booster. How do we know this isn’t just the stunt of an entertainer?
Just doing due diligence. How do we know this actually happened?
Not believing that a Middle Eastern man would be detained by American pigs is some mayo ass behavior
Even if he did, good for him. That’s funny as hell and, dare I say… le good!
He missed a day or two of streaming, which harmed his income.
He doesn’t need to pull shit like this to get attention lol, have you seen him?
is it really implausible that a dude named hasan is getting detained by tsa lol
Implausible, no. But I’m also inherently skeptical of any unverified event that someone has the ability and strong financial incentive to invent from whole cloth. I don’t care how perfect you think his politics are. Never trust anyone who tells you everything you want to hear.
as someone with a middle eastern name, i promise you, it’s really not unbelievable at all that this happened, in addition to him being who he is.
i would honestly say you’re naive to think this is so unlikely to happen that you assume its fake
whats more likely? hasan, who doesnt need more viewers or money lying about something to get viewers and money?
or america being fascist and racist the way it has been for forever?
Yeah everyone here thinks Hasan is perfect and tells us everything we want to hear. You type weird
You type weird
Most scathing comment I’ve seen on this site 🔥
deleted by creator
Now that’s just conspiratorial. As much as Hasan has some lib tendencies he’s been shitting on Zionist for the whole time those disgusting freaks carried out and carry out their genocide. That’s the one line that a us government employee of any type cannot cross.
Yeah I was being an ass for no reason, so I deleted the comment. I do think there’s too much content creator glazing, though.
I mean I’m old enough to find most content creators kinda pointless. I used to watch a lot of anime. Not so much now but I still like anime. I remember watching the biggest anime podcast called trash taste and it was just a fucking blitz of parasocial nonsense. I don’t get how people watch that shit. Some content is better tho. Like second thought is great for newish leftists and progressives. But the good stuff is rare
He did call other people to let them know what was happening while he was being lead away, so unless you think they’re all in on the conspiracy. He’s already rich and extremely well known. He just interviewed Jean-Luc Mélenchon of the French parliament. There’s no incentive.
How would they know he’s not just calling them and lying to them? He could have easily called or messaged people and said he was being lead away.
Celebrities of his stature have performed stunts before. The incentive would be the very ratings explosion that he’s getting now. A ratings explosions means a revenue explosion. More ad revenue. More interview opportunities. More sponsors and donations. He’s making money off of this. And I would not try to argue that he’s already so well-off he’s above wanting more money. When has that ever actually worked?
Go collect your paycheck, you’ve done enough harm here, your work is done.
How do I know that you’re actually posting this?
Ackshually, xiaohongshu2 hacked her account¹²³⁴
Sources:
They detain journalists who talk about eroding freedoms. They detain activists that protest growing surveillance.
It’s their way of reminding people they are being watched and that they should back off if they don’t want trouble.
it’s just way way more likely that he’s not lying. he doesn’t have a history of bullshit stuntmaking, the government is doing this, and it’s just not a big enough boost to his attention that it would be enticing enough to lie. Looking at this tikok, it has 1.9 million views, and his channel has 44.2 million likes and TikTok almost always stays very close to 10 views per Like, meaning he has half a billion views on just his tikok. Making a huge, risky demonstrable lie to get half a percent across this and a couple other platforms just doesn’t make sense. Just flying out of the country and missing 2 days of streaming probably lost more money than this story brought
What would constitute proof? We can’t rely on Hasan’s word. We can’t rely on the word of the people around him because he may be deceiving them. What would prove it to you? He couldn’t film it. He wasn’t arrested so there’s no public log. We can’t get the video footage from the airport. He wasn’t cited, so no paper trail there.
It’s okay to be skeptical but you have to think further than just asking questions. You want proof but how do you get it? How do you validate the proof? If it’s too difficult to get the evidence you need, then what do you do about it?
They just need to convince the feds to admit it since due to the logic presented anyone who is a witness could just be paid off by Hasan so the only trustworthy witnesses would be the feds themself.
Edit: Just saw an article on it below, saying they at least admitted to an inspection but again, that doesn’t verify the majority of his claims so they would be looking for the feds to admit to political intimidation to prove it.
He did show the pamphlet DHS provided mentioning dhs.gov/dhs-trip on the stream.
Edit :
DHS themselves admitted there was an “inspection” but not much beyond that.
When asked for comment about Piker, a Department of Homeland Security official called his account “nothing but lying for likes.”
“Claims that his political beliefs triggered the inspection are baseless,” Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin said in a statement. “Our officers are following the law, not agendas. Upon entering the country, this individual was referred for further inspection — a routine, lawful process that occurs daily, and can apply for any traveler. Once his inspection was complete, he was promptly released.”

Yeah come on! This has nothing to do with political beliefs! Nothing but a good old fashioned racial profiling going on over here!!
“Our officers are following the law, not agendas.”
Laws are written by politicians, who have political agendas; therefore, following the law is following a political agenda.
“Just following orders”
Nah he wouldn’t lie about this and does not need the boost. They would absolutely do this, and if he made it up it’s actually very likely that some groyper in the administration would reveal that it never happened
Right, hypothetically, could someone lie brazenly to the public about being questioned by TSA? Wouldn’t there be a significant risk of being revealed to be a liar? And for what?
